Search Klickitat County Criminal Dockets

Start with the court level. A Klickitat County criminal docket lists the filings, hearings, and case events for matters heard in this county, but the right search depends on where the case sits. Felonies belong to Superior Court, while misdemeanors and city violations stay in the limited-jurisdiction courts. Washington State offers broad public index tools, yet the county courts hold the official files and the current court dates. The clerk of the court that heard the matter can confirm what a docket entry means. Read each entry with its date and court in mind, since a listing shows what happened on the record, not always the final word on the case.

Klickitat County Felony Docket Route

Felony charges in Klickitat County land in Superior Court, and its criminal docket starts there. Odyssey opens that court docket to anonymous users. Anyone can pull case details, party roles, events, disposition events, and hearings without an account. Full documents are another matter. What you can open depends on your user role and local authorization. It also depends on whether the clerk has released the filing through Odyssey Document Manager.

For anything Odyssey will not show, go to the Klickitat County Clerk. The office sits in Room 204 at 205 South Columbus Avenue in Goldendale. Hours run weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon. They resume from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Call 509-773-5744 or write to clerksoffice@klickitatcounty.gov. Many Superior Court files from 2000 through 2023 also live at Washington State Digital Archives. The clerk routes cases there. Older, missing, certified, or non-digitized court records still take direct help from the clerk.

Criminal Dockets: What They Show

Think of a Klickitat County criminal docket as a timeline, not a story. Odyssey breaks the public record into Case Information, Party, Events or Disposition Events, and Hearings. One entry can mislead. The Register of Actions may list a filing or order. Even so, the document itself will not open. Read the whole docket in order before you draw any conclusion from a single event.

Case NumberA Superior criminal number uses type digit 1 and Klickitat Odyssey county code 20, such as 26-1-xxxxx-20.
Case DetailsThe court, file date, case type, status, location, and assigned judicial officer.
Charge or FilingThe allegation or filed paper recorded by the clerk. A charge does not establish guilt.
HearingsFirst appearance, arraignment, motion, omnibus, status, trial, plea, or sentencing settings where public.
DispositionA recorded resolution, such as a plea, trial outcome, or dismissal, which must be read in context.

District and municipal case numbers follow rules each court sets. Washington itself warns that the letters, numbers, and punctuation carry no single statewide meaning, so copy a lower-court case number exactly as it appears.

Klickitat County Misdemeanor Docket Split

Misdemeanor court records in the county split by geography. East Klickitat District Court handles the Goldendale-area district caseload along with the Goldendale municipal docket. West Klickitat District Court covers the west-county caseload. It also takes the Bingen and White Salmon municipal dockets. To confirm which court holds a given criminal docket, the Washington Court Directory is the official routing source.

West district, Bingen, or White Salmon municipalState search and West current criminal docketWest clerk, 509-493-1190

Why does this split matter so much? A empty search on the West side tells you nothing about whether a felony charge sits in Superior Court, and Goldendale city cases never travel through the city council calendar.

Criminal Case Stages on the Docket

A Klickitat County criminal docket tells its story through dated events. The case begins when a filing or complaint opens the index. An arraignment or first appearance comes next on the court docket. Under Klickitat Superior Local Rule 10, the court administrator sets omnibus, status, and trial dates right at arraignment and hands the parties a setting notice. Those dates land on the record early. Pretrial motions may come after that. From there the docket can turn toward a plea, a trial, or a dismissal. It can also point to another outcome. Even then it rarely goes quiet. Sentencing, judgment, review, payment, and appeal events can keep the case active long after the first result.

Docket flow: Filing › First Appearance or Arraignment › Omnibus and Status › Motions › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentencing.

Not every criminal docket follows that exact order. The court may combine a stage, skip one, or reset dates as the case moves along. Trust the latest filed order and the current hearing notice over any generic timeline.

Note: A disposition entry can summarize an outcome without making the complete order, transcript, or supporting papers available online.

Klickitat County Criminal Docket Labels

Local calendars lean on plain labels rather than a county code chart. The East side posts a “Daily In Custody Docket.” It also lists “First Appearance,” “State Docket,” and “City Docket” listings. The West side offers a “Current Criminal” route instead. Superior Court rules mention arraignment, criminal motion, omnibus, status, and trial settings. Each label marks the session or the stage of the case, not the outcome.

First appearance
An early district-court setting after a criminal matter enters the calendar.
Arraignment
A setting where charges are addressed and later settings may be fixed.
Omnibus hearing
A Superior Court pretrial stage that local rules connect with status and trial scheduling.
State docket
East District Court's calendar for state prosecutions, distinct from its city docket.
Continuance or reset
A moved or replaced hearing date. Confirm the newest setting with the court.

Short labels on a case screen can mislead. Ask the clerk to explain an entry and point you to the filed order that controls the case.

Klickitat County Criminal Docket Courts

Which court holds the record depends on the charge. Felonies go to Superior Court. The County Clerk keeps those Klickitat County criminal docket records. Misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, and city ordinance matters land in the East and West District Courts. Their caseloads include DUI, driving while suspended, domestic-violence assault, and fish and wildlife offenses. Goldendale cases route to East. Bingen and White Salmon route to West.

The search rule stays simple. Find the assigned Klickitat County court first, then follow that court's criminal docket and clerk route.

Klickitat County Criminal Docket Rhythm

Each Klickitat County court sets its own docket rhythm. Knowing the pattern helps you pick the right session. East District Court posts a daily in-custody docket at 8:30 a.m. First appearances fall on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Criminal dockets run during the second week of the month. Within that week, Monday opens with a state docket at 9:00 a.m. The city docket follows at 2:00 p.m. Thursday brings the state docket back at 2:30 p.m. The city docket then follows at 3:00 p.m. It is a useful map, not a guarantee, since every session can shift.

Superior Court works on a monthly beat instead. Criminal motion days follow Klickitat/Skamania Superior Local Rule 1. They land on the first, third, and fifth Mondays. Local Rule 5 gives that motion calendar a 9:30 a.m. start. Want a motion heard? Local Rule 4 requires filing by noon on the Thursday before the Monday calendar. The courts themselves caution that schedules change.

A current hearing date can be checked through the Klickitat County court schedule. Then confirm with the assigned court directly.

When an online record leaves you guessing, work every channel the court actually offers. East District Court takes phone calls and email. Walk-ups can use its counter and a marked drop box. West District Court is more flexible still. It accepts phone, in-person, mail, email, and fax contact. A drop box sits near its entrance. Its court page posts the current criminal docket along with remote-hearing details. For Superior Court, case questions belong to the County Clerk. Scheduling questions can go to the Superior Court administrator at 509-773-5755.

A Washington courthouse sometimes offers a public JIS terminal. Ask at the counter to learn whether one is available here. Need a district docket or file copy? Use that district court's records route. A Superior filing, by contrast, runs through the County Clerk. The Digital Archives series works too, when it covers the case.

Access Rules for Criminal Dockets

Washington presumes that court records are open to the public. Dockets, calendars, indexes, orders, judgments, and minute entries all sit inside that presumption. Still, a statute can narrow access. A court rule, court order, or case law can too. A sealed document cannot be viewed or copied. The public index may still reveal that a sealed event exists. Restricted cases can also vanish from anonymous searches entirely.

Key rules:

Washington GR 31 sets the main public-access framework for court records.

Washington GR 15 governs sealing, redaction, and destruction of court records.

RCW 13.50.050 supplies a separate access framework for juvenile court files and related juvenile records.

A blank result in a Klickitat County criminal docket search has several possible causes. The query may point at the wrong court. A date or case-type filter could be hiding the case. Or indexing may simply lag behind. Restricted access, or the absence of any matching public entry, rounds out the list. None of it proves no matter exists, so confirm with the correct clerk. One wrinkle is worth knowing. Washington's Public Records Act is not the case-file route. Court records answer to court rules and common law instead.

Klickitat County Criminal Docket Context

A complaint, information, or charge records an allegation and nothing more. It is not a finding. Later Klickitat County criminal docket entries may show amendment. They may also show dismissal, plea, verdict, judgment, or another outcome. Even a disposition label can leave out detail contained in the signed order. The court's official file holds that context best.

Criminal dockets also stand apart from criminal-history records, custody information, warrant confirmation, and driver records. The Washington state search itself warns that it is not a criminal-history product. Facing an urgent warrant or custody question? Contact the court or the appropriate law-enforcement agency. The public case index is not a complete live warrant database.

Note: Verify the newest docket entry and filed order before relying on a case status or reported outcome.
